    The 15th Olympiades québécoises des métiers et des technologies is the largest event dedicated to vocational and technical training in Quebec. Inspired by the Olympic Games, the Olympiades offers the public an exceptional showcase of skilled trades and tangible models of success.
    Over a period of two days, more than 300 finalists from all regions of Québec will demonstrate their expertise in 38 competing disciplines, under the watchful eye of thousands of visitors. Among the sectors that will be represented are food, metal fabrication, mechanics, computer technology and construction.     Open to the public, the 60th annual show and sale of semi-precious gems, jewellery, sculptures, pearls, beads, fossils, tools, and minerals is educational and perfect for finding unique gifts of all kinds. A not-to-be-missed event! More than 100 local and out-of-province dealers will take part, selling minerals and crystals from locations around the world, including famous mines in Afghanistan, Africa, Brazil, and North America, to name only a few. You will find sculptures made from agate, serpentine, amazonite, rose quartz, jasper and other minerals, one-of-a-kind hand-made sterling silver jewellery, semi-precious stone beads, a large collection of pearls, and silver and gold fittings for making your own jewellery. Professional jewellers will find many suppliers of cut stones ready to be set in rings, etc. Jewellery made from Baltic Sea amber as well as fossils, rough lapis lazuli, kunzite, aquamarine, quartz, rose quartz, and giant amethyst geodes are among the many products on sale or display at the variety of booths at this show. This is only a brief summary of what you will find and what you can buy during this 3-day event. Representatives from the École de gemmologie de Montréal will identify your gems and provide you with information pertaining to their gemmology courses.     The Salons des métiers d’art du Québec is a non-profit organization that organizes two events: Plein Art in Québec City, which was founded in 1980 and is held under tents in August; and the Salon des métiers d’art du Québec in Montréal, which was founded in 1955 and is held in December. These events are considered to be the most important exhibition/sales events featuring professional artisans in Canada. Each exhibitor’s work is evaluated by a panel of peers, in accordance with strict and rigorous selection criteria established by the Conseil des métiers d’art du Québec (CMAQ).
